Swim Lessons!!

Colin had his 1st day of swim lessons today!
We were all super excited for the day and couldn't wait to get everyone dressed and ready to go. I even had to run out to the grocery store this morning because I forgot about the swim diapers! They are amazing by the way...I never realized that they don't get all puffy!
I had to go up into the attic last night to get out Colin's bathing suits (and hoped that they fit)! Colin had 4 bathing suits and the biggest one was a 3/6 months. It is still big on him, even with the diaper on! Here's our little man getting ready this morning...
We got there nice and early and were pleasantly suprised that it was so warm in the building (and the pool - I think it was warmer than Colin's bath water!)!

Because we missed a week because they had to reschedule our class, we were not aware that there was a method to getting in the pool and we were already in!

We sang lots of songs like "The Wheels on the Bus", "If You're Happy and You Know It", and "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" (substituting swimming related terms and motions into all of the songs).

We blew bubbles together but we will work on that with Colin because he hasn't quite gotten that yet.
We laid the kids on their backs (in our case, cheek to cheek with Colin so that he knew we were there) and had them kick across the pool.
One of the most exciting things we did was having the kids practice getting out of the pool (it will be awhile before Colin can actually do this, but he at least grabbed on to the side!) and then jump in!
After the kids "jump" in, you have them "swim" across the pool on their back, cheek to cheek, trying to get them to kick.
Miss Gina, Colin's teacher, even had him jump in and go under! She asked us if it was ok (she said it's good to get them used to it once in awhile) and we were only heasitant worrying about Colin's ears. I ordered the Ear Band It System but unfortunately it did not arrive in time for Colin's 1st lesson. So, needless to say, we decided to give it a whirl and see how it would go and low and behold...Colin did not complain at all at being ducked under!
Colin even went "swimming" after the ball reaching for it and everything!
It was so great to see Colin so relaxed in the water! He never tried to fight us, or complain, or show any disinterest!

...And, exhaustion!
It was such a great experience and we can't wait for next week!
