When you have a child with Down Syndrome, there are a lot of worries that cross your mind when you think about the future. I can honestly say that in the beginning, the here and now didn't scare me, it was what the future would bring. As time has gone by, a lot of those worries have been eased by Colin himself by showing us exactly what he is capable of. I honestly don't know what the future will bring, but I know that with the support of his family, Colin will be able to do anything he puts his mind to.
These two have really started to build a friendship lately that Chris and I have waited a long time for. Although it's not always the best relationship (they both need to learn how to appropriately take out their frustrations), they have learned to laugh, take each other's lead, and find ways to occupy themselves together (although a lot of the time, that means getting into trouble).
I know they are both incredibly lucky to have each other. Their friendship will carry them into the future together, and then it doesn't seem so scary...
