Christmas Vacation

So what happens when you are on Christmas vacation and you get a blizzard? You wake up and look out the window and realize you are stuck...literally!

And what happens when it takes DAYS to be shoveled and plowed out?? You enjoy every. single. second. with your family and do not take that time for granted since it doesn't happen very often...

We didn't leave our house for 3 whole days and it was the most enjoyable time (aside from the fact that Chris had to shovel out by himself). We found lots of things to do to occupy our time together!
...we put Colin's new tile floor together for his bedroom compliments of Nana and Grandad. We love it!
...we finger painted and made a big ole mess!

...oh, and perfected the "where's your teeth" cheesy smile which I LOVE...
we ate some (ok LOTS) of snacks and yummy meals...

...we snuggled and snuggled and snuggled....
...and took a long time to get all bundled up to go outside in the snow...

...which unfortunately only lasted about 10 minutes TOPS because I did not have appropriate snow gear for Colin OR boots that fit. He actually LOVED the snow, but every time he crawled somewhere, he lost a boot since it was literally a size too big!

...we played in the bathtub with bath crayons...

and practiced standing and other exercises for physical therapy (since he didn't see ANY therapists this week due to the snow and vacation)...

...and then worked on fine motor skills with playdo!

...Miss Regina would be proud of the things we worked on!

It was fun until someone decided to take a big bite out of the yellow playdo and then SWALLOW...so it took 15 minutes to dangerously stick our fingers in his mouth to get it out. Eventually, I used a tooth brush to scrape it off the roof of his mouth since he hated the taste, was spitting and drooling yellow, and whining.

...signing "milk" to wash it down...
...ahh, thanks for helping me Mommy and Daddy...

...it took more work with baby food to help wash the bad taste down...

...and we put (we as in I) put together Colin's new car from the Gallagher family. I think it was a hit!

Colin also enjoyed playing with his shadow in the doorway....

..and we worked on eating skills!

It was the best Christmas vacation week in very many years!!

Wow, I can't believe the snow you all got! It sounds like you all had a blast being snowed in. You gotta love babies sticking everything in their mouths, at least it was just play-doh ;)

Amazing - YOUR ability to make a blizzard so special and fun...next time WE want to get snowed in at your house! Apparently Colin's snuggles were the best medicine for his daddy's shovel aching bones...maybe next year Santa needs to bring Colin a snow blower/plow for Chris to borrow. Have to admit - watched the shadow pictures several times - my guys were huge cardboard box fans - but even with all Colin's shiny new (and "old) toys, looks like Shadow Colin is one of his new best friends! Happy New Year and thanks for all the sharing - enjoy watching Colin growing up cyberly since we (Neil and I) don't seem to get out of our own way nearly enough! XXOO-Randy

Man - can you come over and work with my kid? Seriously, our therapists would flip if I did all that with Max in a week :) Nice job!
