Lazy Saturday

Prior to the snow, we had fun plans for Saturday to go visit our cousins Brian, Samantha and Penelope...but that was rescheduled for next weekend.
Instead, we had a lazy Saturday at home. Daddy still had to go to work because their basketball game was on TV, so Colin and I hung out and played together...

We worked on imitating just like Miss D did trying to get Colin to put the cup on his head...
I put it there, but with practice, I'm sure Colin will be putting things on his head sooner than we know it! Lol...

We also practiced clapping...yay for Colin! (These pictures aren't the greatest, but you get the point...)

We got a lot of Colin's exercises in but after awhile, Colin just wanted to relax and look out at the beautiful snow...

...hey Mommy, you still back there? And read a good book...

What a nice and relaxing Saturday!

Thankful...

There have been so many times throughout this journey where I have certainly had my moments where things have been hard and overwhelming and frustrating.

...but I have also had many more moments where I have been uplifted, inspired, and can feel so much love that I feel like I will burst.

I had to take Colin today for an ultrasound appointment (more on that at another time) and him and I were sitting in the waiting room together. An older couple came right up to us and were gushing over how beautiful Colin is. She then said "He is so special just like our Johnny is".

There were moments where I would felt upset because they "saw it". But I didn't feel that way today. This woman was so gentle and so kind and she shared her story with me about her 30 year old nephew who was so loved and so happy. So I shared my story and was so proud of myself because it felt so comfortable and easy.

And then the moment came...we had gone back to ourselves for a little bit and were sitting in comfortable silence when she said to me..."you know, special babies are given to special people...you must be a very special person"...

I do feel special because of Colin...

...because I feel so much love from friends and family for Chris and I and most especially, for Colin.

...because I feel how much Colin loves me, especially when I walk into the room and he gives me the biggest most heartfelt smile (that makes his eyes all squinty!).

...because I have met so many people both in the electronic world, and in person, who are special people. I cry when you cry, I laugh when you laugh, and I clap the loudest claps at all of you and your children's accomplishments. I crave this family and am thankful for it.

...because we have been so blessed to have 2 new people in our lives (Miss D and Miss K) who are so supportive and push us and Colin to higher limits.

...because his presence in my life has changed me. Because of Colin I am learning patience, I am learning that things don't necessarily have to happen the way they are supposed to, or on the timeline that they are "supposed to", and I am learning to slow down.

...because of Colin, I learn new things every day.

I have seen on lots of blogs today a post about the birth story of Nella by Kelle at Enjoying the Small things. I never would have found this post if it weren't for Colin's presence in my life. This post moved me so deeply that I can't find the words to explain how. Kelle put so beautifully in words my feelings, my thoughts, my emotions. I understand....

Daddy's Birthday Celebration

Chris decided that he wanted to go to Outback for his birthday dinner! It was so much fun to go out as a family to celebrate...and Colin was such a good little boy! He sat in his chair with us at the table...Daddy had his FAVORITE meal...a nice rare piece of meat...

Colin and Daddy were so happy to celebrate Daddy's birthday together...
When we got back to the house, our friends Meredith, Mo, and Tim came over to sing Happy Birthday to Chris! I got his favorite for dessert...ice cream cake!!Colin was very interested in it and wanted to touch it!Daddy blew out his candles!

Colin really enjoyed his share of the ice cream cake too!...so much so that when Mo went to have a bite of hers he thought it was for him!And at the end of the night...Colin was content (the evidence is on his face!)

What a great day for Chris' birthday!

Pictures from Swim Lessons!

One of my new favorite pictures! Colin waiting patiently to get in the water!

So happy in the pool!

Learning how to kick in the water!!

Learning how to "swim" on his belly with Miss Gina!London bridge is falling down on noodles...Learning how to "reach" in the water to get the rings...Check out the video in the next post! Colin goes under water!

Swim Lessons

Colin had swim lessons this morning and he was very excited! While we were waiting to get in the pool he was making lots of noises and showing obvious excitement.

Colin is learning how to kick and will do it every once in awhile if you say "kick". It's difficult at times because he likes to grab his feet still so it's hard to "unbend" him at times. This video isn't the best depiction of our session because Colin really enjoyed using his hands and feet! He was even clapping (another post to come later!)!

I think the swim lessons are going really well for him and he is really enjoying them. He is really starting to use his legs more in and out of the water and is so relaxed. It's just a workout for Mommy and Daddy!

Happy (Belated) Birthday Uncle Timmy!

Dear Uncle Timmy~

Mommy told me to tell you she is pretty upset that she didn't put up a post for you on your birthday (January 26th)! She said she is especially mad because she did the same thing on Uncle Pat's birthday!!
I did get to talk to you on your birthday (thank goodness for Skype!) but I wanted to wish you a very special HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I hope you had a great time in Colorado celebrating!

I love you Uncle Timmy! Happy Birthday!!
